HOW TO LIE AND GET AWAY WITH IT

Here is a headline from Al-Crapeeza to make the blood boil: Arafat defends Oslo spirit.

What is written beneath the headline is even more infuriating....and false. For a start, why not publish some Arafat lies about his background:

"No one can deport me from my homeland, and the homeland of my fathers and forefathers," Arafat, 74, said..

Homeland? He was born in Egypt for crying out loud!

Next, illustrate him as a man of peace:

Arafat said the peace process was "facing the most critical time since the signing of the Oslo agreement in 1993...but I reaffirm before you that despite the incitement and Israeli threats, the Palestinian people and the Palestinian leadership are committed to the peace process..It is the duty of all to follow up on what our late partner Yitzhak Rabin did to... reach a comprehensive, just and permanent peace for the sake of our children and those of the Israelis. Come, let us make peace together."

But we all know his true intentions:

A defiant Arafat emerged from his compound in the West Bank city of Ramallah for a second straight night Friday and rallied hundreds of supporters, saying: "To Jerusalem we are going as martyrs in the millions."

The crowd held photos of Arafat and chanted: "With our blood and souls we will redeem you." Arafat answered: "With our blood and souls, we will redeem you, Palestine."

What is even more infuriating is that the world seems to be supporting him. Not to mention some left-wing Israelis.

With exile being threatened and still confined in his compound, he has probably never felt happier - or relevant.
