STATE DEPARTMENT FENCED IN BY PALESTINIAN PROPAGANDA

Charles Krauthammer is right on the money in his discussion about the US State Department's attitude towards Israel's security fence (State Department is joining the latest Palestinian propaganda ploy).

Among his contentions:
- The State Department has inverted cause and effect by making the fence the issue, rather than the terrorism that has made it necessary.
- The fence is borne out of necessity to save innocent Israeli lives.
- Out of the nearly 100 suicide bombings, none have come out of Gaza, due to the fence separating Gaza from Israel.
- The US has chutzpah to demand that Israel stop building a fence designed to prevent foreigners from coming in to commit mass murder, while the US itself builds fences to prevent foreigners from coming in to take jobs.
- The fence is not a wall (as the propaganda campaign would have you believe). It is only wall-like in two places, places from where palestinian gunmen have been shooting at Israeli motorists
- The road map makes no mention of stopping work on the fence while it does make mention of the palestinians beginning "sustained, targeted, and effective operations aimed at ...dismantlement of terrorist capabilities and infrastructure," which they have not done and have expressly refused to do.

In the meantime, many lawmakers in Congress are preparing to defend Israel's right to build the fence to the Bush administration.
