ANTI-SEMITISM AND THE ISLAMIC WORLD In its article Interpreting Egypt's anti-semitic cartoons , the BBC concludes the following: The use of anti-Semitic imagery in the Egyptian media may seem bizarre, racist and anachronistic to outsiders. But it is not based on any historical hatred of Jews as a race. It has more to do with the need to be seen supporting the Palestinians, even if only in a purely symbolic way. That means that if and when real peace comes, the Egyptian media are likely to quickly forget their anti-Semitic line. I can't determine whether this is proof of a deliberate campaign of villification against Israel by the BBC, or merely a display of profound ignorance as to the Arab world and its attitudes towards Jews and Israel. Either way, it is a testimony to poor journalism. For a start, the use of anti-Semitic imagery is based on historical attitudes towards Jews as a race. According to the ADL's Islamic Anti-Semitism in Historical Per...
ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF PALESTINIAN LIES A palestinian documentary maker is following in the tradition of his compatriots, including Yasser Arafat, Saeb Erakat and Edward Said. The award-winning Palestinian documentary "Ford Transit" directed by Hani Abu As'ad, may not be a real documentary after all. The Israeli daily Haaretz revealed on Wednesday that the leading character in the film is in reality an actor, and not the husky young transit driver he was believed to be. The film won the Freedom Spirit award in the documentary category at the international film festival in Jerusalem last month. It was also screened at other renowned documentary film festivals in Holland and Canada and won plaudits. The film relates the story of Rajay, a transit driver who drives Palestinians, describing the Israeli occupation and the Palestinian hardships through the driver’s eyes. One scene depicts an Israeli soldier beating Rajay, after the driver spoke back to him. Haaretz rep...

HUSSEINS INSANE OVER ISRAELI BEER Could it be that Qusay and Uday had a thing for Israeli beer and candy? The answer is a resounding yes, according to Debka : A close inspection of photos from inside the Mosul villa where Qusay and Uday were shot dead by American troops last month reveals beer bottles and a candy wrapper with what looks suspiciously like Hebrew lettering. Ironically, Saddam Hussein's sons and grandson may have spent their last hours consuming the products of the hated Zionist state. In another odd twist, the troops of the US 101st airborne division may have cracked open beer of the same Macabbee brand while laying Saddam’s heirs to siege. What next? Bin Laden enjoying matzo ball soup?
IN THE TRADITION OF COWARDLY JIHADISTS Big-talking Bali bomber Amrozi, who has consistently spoken of wanting to die as a martyr , is appealing his death sentence ! I would have thought that he would be overjoyed by the sentence, with the prospect of 72 virgins awaiting him in heaven. What is almost as funny is this comment by his lawyer Wirawan Adnan: "He has signed and asked us to go ahead with the appeal...I don't think any normal person would want to die." Is he calling Amrozi normal?
ARNIE ENTERS THE FRAY Arnold Schwartznegger is running for governor of California after all. Charles at LGF writes: So does anyone know what he stands for? I know he’s never held a public office, he’s never written an op-ed, never written a book. I know he starred in a couple of great James Cameron action films. I know he uses steroids. I also know he’s married to the Kennedy family, the scion of which just completely bought the CAIR line of apology for militant Islam and came out against the nomination of Daniel Pipes to the US Institute of Peace. An article in the Sydney Morning Herald goes some way in answering this question. In an article entitled Why Aren't Conservatives Worried About Schwarzenegger?, posted on the right wing website http://www.freerepublic.com, the anonymous writer questioned the actor's allegiance to traditional Republican values. The article said: "His first foray into California politics was a ridiculously irresponsible m...
AXIS OF EVIL Further, alarming news regarding Iran's efforts to go nuclear, with revelations that North Korea is planning to help them . North Korea is in talks to export its Taepodong 2 long-range ballistic missile to Iran and to jointly develop nuclear warheads with Tehran, a Japanese newspaper reported on Wednesday. The conservative Sankei Shimbun, quoting military sources familiar with North Korea, said that the communist state planned to export components and Iran would then assemble the Taepodongs at a factory near Tehran. The paper, known for its hardline stance on Pyongyang, said North Korea would also send experts to provide Iran with assistance on missile technology and the two states - both included in President Bush's "axis of evil" - would jointly develop nuclear warheads. They have been discussing the plans for about a year and are expected to reach an agreement in mid-October, the Sankei added. And on the subject of the axis of evil...
SPLIT DEVELOPING IN WORLD JEWISH CONGRESS Isi Liebler, World Jewish Congress senior vice president, has written a scathing letter to its president, Edgar Bronfman, calling for him to apologize or resign for his attempt to influence US policy towards the security fence to Israel's detriment . Isi criticizes Bronfman, a resident of New York, lobbying "..the president of the United States to resist policies being promoted by the government of Israel", especially considering the fact that the fence is a "security issue...that impacts on the life and death of Israelis". It is inconceivable that the president of a body representing Jews around the world would unilaterally act in such a way as to potentially endanger the lives of Israel's citizens. I would go further than Isi Liebler and demand that Bronfman resign immediately, regardless of any apologies or retractions.
